The time has come to branch off from my first blog. I am starting anew so that I can post about the Adventures of Graduate School without spamming my PI's RSS feed. Most of my posts will probably be academic and/or research related, since I have been informed that this will soon become 99% of my life, but I reserve the right to abandon professionalism and post random links to whatever I want.

I have been a Ph.D. student for an official three days. I have a shiny new student ID with a downright creepy picture of myself, good for the next 6 years. I worked backward through the university's chain of command, hitting 6 offices before finding the office where I needed to turn in my financial paperwork. And my computer has decided to kick off the school year with a new bug: taking screenshots every time I type a lower case 'e'.

P.S. I had forgotten to clarify the name. I have no good name for this blog because some jerk took elliepavlick.blogspot.com. So open to suggestions...
